VACHERIN TEAM WINS ACE READY STEADY COOK COMPETITION

Our Vacherin Chefs, Lewis Linley and Gemma Vardon have won first place at The Association of Catering Excellence (ACE) annual competition Ready Steady Cook held in Canary Wharf on Thursday 20th September.

The competition involved 14 teams from the foodservice sector as they had to plan and prepare two courses using ingredients they had only discovered 30 minutes before they began. Vacherin was proudly represented by our dynamic duo, Lewis and Gemma as they brought the first place home at the end of the evening’s high pressure competition.

The winning menu was roast pigeon, pancetta, sweet potato, broccoli cous cous, pickled blackberries and sweet potato crisps with a dessert of almond financier, orange, roast fig and honey and yogurt espuma, almond crumb.

Dan Kelly, Director | Food, 'we are completely delighted and so proud of Gemma and Lewis and the hard work and fantastic food they cooked not only on the night, but in the lead up to it, with the hours of sweat and tears they put into the practicing beforehand. A wonderful and well deserved achievement showing the rest of the industry what we already know. They are amazing, passionate creative chefs that will continue to grow and develop with our guidance and support and we are absolutely so pleased to have them as part of the ever growing award winning Vacherin chef team'.
