A real success story for CH&CO is our partnership with the social enterprise, Well Grounded, which unites our brands and has supported people into employment through coffee training programmes.
We are proud of our contribution to the Compass Group total of £1.1 billion of Social Value in 2024. You can read more about our results in Compass Group’s recently released People and Community Social Impact Report as validated by Social Value Portal, using its TOM System™.
What are the highlights?
*£113 million of Social Value delivered through the provision of local employment opportunities
*£1.7 million generated through our diverse range of social initiatives, including:
- 224 team members learning through apprenticeships in topics ranging from Hospitality and Culinary to AI and Ecology
- 46 days of volunteering on nature projects with Woodoaks, a farm that connects community with nature, food, and farming.
- Over £1.5 million spent on products supplied by social enterprises generating over £186,000 in Social Value
- 12 traineeships with Well Grounded, an award-winning social enterprise that supports people with barriers to employment into careers in coffee and hospitality
- £134,000 donated to Well Grounded through our Community Blend coffee with £2 donated for every kilo of this bespoke blend sold in our sites.
One of Vacherin's standout achievements was in nature-friendly farming: we exceeded our group target of 10%, achieving an impressive 18% of our ingredients from organic and regenerative sources.
The report also spotlights our long-standing commitment to supporting social enterprises. Since 2015, we’ve championed the vital work of social enterprise Luminary Bakery. Our support has included everything from fun and creative fundraising events, to donating equipment and sharing our skills. In 2024, we helped Luminary expand its retail business, which funds its charitable work, and facilitated work placements at sites.
